The Fire of God as a Symbol of Confidence
1 Kings 18:38-39 (ESV)
Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces and said, “The Lord, he is God; the Lord, he is God.”
The fire that fell from heaven on Mount Carmel was not just a miraculous event; it was a symbol of confidence in the living God. When God answers by fire in your life—whether through answered prayer, deliverance, or His unmistakable presence—it builds a deep assurance that He is real and active. This confidence is not based on our own efforts or pretending, but on the reality of God’s work within us. Let your faith be genuine, rooted in the God who reveals Himself powerfully to those who trust Him.
Reflection: Recall a time when God answered you in a powerful way. How did that experience strengthen your confidence in Him, and how can you share that testimony with someone today?
